Hospice Action Network Message

From Lauren K Drew at Hospice Action Network: “It is a very exciting time in Washington, DC as NHPCO kicks off the 2019 Leadership and Advocacy Conference on Monday! As a part of that, we have nearly 300 hospice and palliative care advocates ready to go to Capitol Hill and advocate for patients and families!

Can you help them? We need you to email your Members of Congress and ask them to support the Rural Access to Hospice Act and the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act. Just click these links to be taken to our quick and easy Action Alert system where you can send a pre-written email to your Members of Congress.

Even if you have done this before, please step up again to support our advocates who will be visiting Capitol Hill on Wednesday, April 17, and asking Congress to support these two bills. It will go a long way for Members of Congress to be hearing both from advocates in person, and from you back in the district.

We also want to make sure you are all aware of National Healthcare Decisions Day on April 16 (the day before we go to Capitol Hill). We’ve created a template Letter to the Editor that we’d love you to personalize and send to your local media. Click here to edit and submit the NHDD Letter!

Finally, on April 17 (Wednesday), we’re asking everyone to take to social media and use #MyHospice and #LAC19 to share your stories of patients that impacted you, why you joined the hospice and palliative care community, and what #MyHospice means to you! Let’s cover social media in positive and uplifting messages about the benefits of hospice and palliative care! Craft your own messages, or direct them to your Members of Congress here.

Thank you for making time to be an advocate, and for supporting your fellow hospice and palliative care advocates on Capitol Hill!”
