3. CMS Provides New Guidance for CERT Reviews

Via NAHC Report: “The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued Change Request (CR) 10778 which provides instructions to the Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) on actions they may take when the Comprehensive Error Rate Testing (CERT) contractors have identified providers who have not responded to additional documentation requests  (ADRs) or when there is insufficient documentation to support the decision to pay the claim.
If the CERT contractor receives a no response to an ADR request, they inform the Medicare Administrative Contractors (MAC) who in turn has the discretion to do one of the following:
Contact those providers who have failed to submit medical records and encourage them to submit the requested records to the CERT review contractor for review;
Collect the overpayment immediately; and
Collect the overpayment within 10 business days of the deadline for entering final   MAC feedback.” Download the full article here.

5. Medicare Advantage Plan Information Temporarily Not Available In the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System

Via CGS: “At this time the Medicare beneficiary Medicare Advantage (MA) eligibility information is not available on the CGS IVR.  CGS is working diligently to correct the issue.  Until this issue is resolved, MA eligibility information is available on the Common Working File eligibility screens ELGA.  Refer to Direct Data Entry Manual, Chapter 2: Checking Beneficiary Eligibility for additional information.
